When pumping fluids above 100 cps, you MUST select a larger pump to maintain design flow rate. Manufacturer correction data can be unreliable. Use these guidelines with caution:
| Viscosity Range | Approx. Flow Reduction | Action Required |
|---|---|---|
| Below 100 cps | 0% (100% flow) | No correction needed |
| 100 - 1,000 cps | ~5% reduction | Consider next size up |
| 1,000 - 5,000 cps | 10-15% reduction | Select larger pump |
| 5,000 - 10,000 cps | 20-30% reduction | Significantly larger pump required |
| Above 10,000 cps | 40-50% reduction | Consult NQOBA technical team |
Note: This efficiency calculator assumes water-like fluids (below 100 cps). For viscous fluids, calculate efficiency based on ACTUAL achieved flow rate, not design flow rate.
